How Family Calendar works

What is Family Calendar?

Family Calendar is a multi-user family scheduling dashboard that aggregates events from Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and Epic MyChart into a single shared view designed for wall-mounted displays, tablets, and mobile devices.

Each family member connects their own calendar accounts. All events are color-coded by person and displayed together so the whole family can see everyone's schedule at a glance. The AI assistant generates a daily morning briefing summarizing the day's events, flagging tight transitions, and suggesting personal tasks.

How MyChart Integration Works

Family Calendar integrates with Epic MyChart — the patient portal used by most major US hospital systems — to automatically display confirmed medical appointments alongside your regular calendar events.

Step 1 — Connect Your Hospital

Go to Settings → Connected Calendars → Add MyChart. Search for your hospital or health system by name. Family Calendar supports any hospital that uses Epic MyChart (thousands of US health systems).

Step 2 — Authorize in MyChart

You'll be redirected to your hospital's MyChart login page. Sign in with your normal MyChart credentials. You'll be asked to approve access for "Family Calendar" to read your upcoming appointments.

Step 3 — Appointments Appear Automatically

Your confirmed appointments sync to Family Calendar daily (at 6am) and appear with a medical badge on the calendar. They are read-only — to reschedule or cancel, use MyChart directly. A "Open in MyChart" button is available on each appointment.

You can also revoke access directly in MyChart under Account Settings → Connected Apps.
